Clinical care is administered to pregnant women to ensure their safety and health. Looking after them entails a long thread of patience since there is a huge responsibility to provide them with proper guidelines and safety precautions. Few of these have to be followed such as Leopold maneuver.

This method determines the fetal position and engagement inside the womb. It is also used to provide information about the fetal size and its heart rate. It consists of four precise processes that are performed accurately by a healthcare specialist.

Patients may feel anxious about the procedure so there should be explanations to at least reduce the anxiety they have and get the amount of cooperation needed to fulfill the tasks of nurses. These examiners are licensed and experienced enough in executing the four processes so that assessments and findings will be accomplished precisely.

For a productive palpation, the bladder must be emptied. Patients have to be in a reclining position with knees slightly flexed. And for them to be more comfortable, a small pillow can be placed as well right under the head. The nurse must be able to explain the whole processes for these to work out.

The nurse will do the first step which includes the use of both hands to assess the shape, size, and mobility of fetus. They must be certain enough to determine which part is located in the uppermost rounded part of the uterus. The fetal head that must be felt should be firm, round and hard.

During the second action, clinician applies hand palms on either side of the patient, more particularly on the belly. This process locates the fetal back and confirms its presentation. One hand will feel the hard part while the opposite palpates the extremities.

The third process involves the proper grip of fetal parts. This stage allows the nurse to confirm its position and its nature. And as for the last action, an examiner should be able to locate the brow of a fetus. It is necessary for the nurse to move their fingers and apply a downward pressure on the fundus of the uterus.

These four maneuvers are done in skillful and intricate ways. As patients, they have to ensure that every action is properly executed. Going through the entire procedure needs time and effort that is why it is important to be really careful about who to trust and where to go. They should be able to locate the right health centers and nurses nearby since it can be risky to travel long distances.

These maneuvers are expected to give moms high hopes about the overall condition of their babies. Learning the condition simply states the common aim to expect a smooth delivery. As expectant, they have to be cooperative since the findings may assist them to do what is right and helpful enough. After all, it is for their own good and benefits.
