By Barbara Walker

Meditation and exercise are common practices which can help restore health and balance body, mind and spirit. In fact, Eastern, Western and Holistic practitioners agree that individuals whom exercise and meditate on a regular basis often lead less-stressful lives. As such, there is now a need for individuals to attend hot yoga teacher training DC For, yoga has become even more popular, introducing new styles such as hot and goat yoga over the last few years.

Individuals interested in leading classes in this area or joining the OHYA Directory must obtain approval from the Original Hot Yoga Association or OHYA in order to do so. For, the organization has committed to supporting and promoting hot yoga. While now popular, the form is also known as the 26 & 2 method.

The primary goal of the organization is to train new teachers which can easily integrate and excel at current and future OHYA studios in different areas. In order to achieve this goal, those seeking to lead classes must meet OHYA standards which include different categories of study and minimum hours as defined by the OHYA. Whereas, graduating students are expected to complete an internship at a studio in the area of residency and join the OHYA as a method of uniting the hot yoga community.

Graduates are often hired by studios which are part of the OHYA organization. Individuals need to have a Level 1 Seal in the directory and have successfully completed an internship before the hiring process can take place. Once approved, then the individual can often provide courses aimed at new teachers at a number of different OHYA studios.

If an individual has completed a training program in hot yoga outside the OHYA and is not clear if one is qualified to teach a teacher oriented program, the individual can email the OHYA to inquire as to whether the courses taken qualify one to teach at OHYA studios. In most cases, those having had some training in the area can complete a bridge training program in order to qualify to lead such classes.

Teachers whom are looking for approval must meet the organizational standards as laid out by OHYA and file an application. Some of these standards include personal practice, delivering instructions in a strong clear manner, providing instructions which relate to the trainee, merging personality traits with training methods and mindfully connecting with students on an individual and group level.

Controlling the air flow, oxygen and heat in the classroom is essential for the comfort and safety of teachers and students. In addition, leading from the front of the room using a podium or desk while teaching is required by those providing instruction to others. Whereas, teaching how to heal and empower others are considered important aspects when leading a class to train teachers to train other students in the future.

Ultimately, those wishing to teach others how to lead training sessions need to be strong-willed and strong-minded. In addition, these individuals must have completed all the necessary steps to become trainers and have led classes. After which, the choice whether to teach a OHYA class, or lead a training session to train others is up to each graduate of the OHYA program.
