Basic Details Regarding Gynecologist And Their Duties

By Ann McDonald

The medical practice which deals with the health of the female reproductive systems like the breasts, ovaries, uterus and vagina is called gynecology. Andrology is known as its male counterpart. Most gynecologist today are also obstetricians or those in the field dealing with pregnancy, postpartum and childbirth. These two fields typically overlaps on many areas and were combined under the discipline or surgical field of OB/GYN.

Going to these professionals means you are taking responsibility with your body to know how to take care of it better. You can look for clinics or hospitals with a Reno gynecologist and have yourself checked and determine the healthiness of your reproductive systems. Here are several things to learn about them and what they could do.

Reasons to see a gynecologist include the ability of helping you understand and learn the proper ways of taking care of your body. They would help you determine the normal state your body has on these things because each person has a different one and this lets you notice changes. These changes can be signs of having problems like a vaginal infection.

Going to them lets them find earlier the problems so they can be immediately treated and prevent it to become worse. They would explain normal vaginal discharge and teach you in determining if there are problems with your discharge. They will be teaching you as well the ways to protect yourself whenever you have sex.

You might be wondering when you should start going to the gynecologist and most organizations in health and medical field recommend the ages thirteen to fifteen. If unable to do so at these ages then be sure in visiting them if you start to experience the following things. First is having sex already, either oral, vaginal or anal or any intimate sexual contact.

Another is when your periods happen but it is not happening regularly which means it does not happen at the similar dates every month. It could be problematic too when they happen twice a month or three months have passed since the last one and you did not get it again. Or you have sex and you missed it.

Visit them also when you are already aged fifteen or your breasts began to grow since three years ago and did not get your period yet. Your periods are problematic whenever you experienced great pain, longer bleeding or heavily doing so. But the most important symptoms to look out for is when there is fever, stomach pain and fluid coming out with strong smell because these may indicate pelvic inflammatory disease.

The gynecologist would ask you questions during the visit to learn more about you and your family, including your medical history. You may ask them also any questions related to reproductive health and wellness. Inform them if ever you are sexually active also so they could perform some tests to find out if you have a sexually transmitted disease.

Normal routines most doctors do are also done by them like measuring blood pressure, height and weight. They might examine the outside of your genitals and your breasts. Other tests could be done if ever needed.
