Opportunities In Solar Consulting In West Windsor, NJ

By Enid Hinton

During the global economic recession a few years back, most industries took a beating. Many lost their livelihood as business scaled down or shut down. One subsector stood out in the mayhem and this the one to do with solar consulting and installation. Prospects in this subsector are hot and they are still percolating steadily. A 2011 National Solar census report submitted by The Solar Foundation working with Cornell University and GreenLMI indicated that the US grew only marginally by 0.7% in this year. One subsector stood out though and this was the solar subsector which grew by 6.8% between August 2011 and August 2011. This was a growth rate of about 10 times that of the US economy.

According to the report, there were no less than 100, 237 jobs in the this sector in August 2011. This was after 6,735 new jobs were created within a year. The trend is expected to continue with employers expected to expand their workforce by at least 24 percent in the coming year. This translates to 24,000 new jobs for installers, consultants and others working in the sector.

Demand is especially high for consultants and installers. People and businesses are seeking expert advice on available options and what is most suitable for them. With this information, they can then seek out installers.

Since they started to understand the advantages of this source of alternative energy including the incentives offered by the government and manufacturers, demand has led to the introduction of new new systems for heating water. Many upgrades have also been done on the initial products. As choices and demand have increased, so have job opportunities for those in the sector.

One area where there are good opportunities is for those who consult and install systems for heating water. Another promising area is that of installing PV panels which are placed on roofs of both residential and commercial buildings. These two areas have grown phenomenally creating demand for experts who can consultant and those who install.

Another job category in the sector is that of radiant heating installer. They install appliances that use radiant heating technology. These devices are thought to be the best for harnessing energy from the sun. There are systems that can be used not only for heating water but also lighting up homes.

To work in this area, one needs to get trained and be a certificate holder. There are higher courses that can be taken for higher qualifications, a bachelors degree included. Those who have certifications in systems for heating pools have an extra advantage.

Apart from consulting on and installing thermal systems in homes, there are also very good prospects in installing them for large scale agricultural and commercial projects. Such large scale projects like these usually need hundreds of people at a time. In fact, companies usually have a backlog of clients waiting for installation to be done.

This sector continues to be the bright light for an economy that is still on a delicate recovery path. Solar installer and consultant careers and those of others working in the solar energy sector remain bright. Energy is needed to power every home, office, factory and any other operational building. Therefore, prospects can only keep getting better for sun energy workers.
